Men said - why should we wear condoms, women should adopt contraception:

Is a woman just a sex toy? A man can enjoy sex as per his wish, but protection from pregnancy is not his responsibility. Keeping the demand of safe sex by the woman passes exasperating to the man. This is the biggest problem of the society. The man sees protection by connecting it to his ego. Safe sex is like abusing his manhood. In the National Family Health Survey NFHS-5 (2019-21) survey, 35.1% of men believed that it was women's job to adopt contraception.

Surprisingly, even in the 21st century, women are still struggling with the problem of unwanted pregnancies. She eats contraceptive pills but hides from her husband. Unmarried girls take an overdose of these pills without medical advice to avoid pregnancy after having sex, which is fatal.

It is important that women understand the difference between oral contraceptive, emergency contraceptive pills and abortion contraceptive pills.

There are 3 types of birth control pills

Dr Ruma Satwik, Gynecologist at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, told that there are 3 types of contraceptive pills.

Oral contraceptive pills: These contain the hormones estrogen and progesterone. It is taken 2-3 days after the period and 1 tablet is to be taken daily for 21 days. It is beneficial for sexually active couples.

Emergency Contraceptive Pills: This pill is for a woman who goes through unprotected sex. This pill contains high dose of progesterone hormone. If ovulation occurs in 8 to 10 days, then this pill thickens the cervical mucus so that pregnancy does not stop. Apart from this, it prevents the egg and sperm from meeting in the ute. It should be consumed within 72 hours of having sex. But do not make this pill a habit. This pill is known only by its name. It should be taken only in case of emergency.

Abortion Contraceptive Pills: 2 pills are given in this. If the woman is pregnant then this pill can be given for 7 weeks. 1 Anti-progesterone i.e. Mifepristone and 48 hours after its administration, Misoprostol is given. Misoprostol is given orally or vaginally. Actually, progesterone hormone proves to be helpful for pregnancy. At the same time, mifepristone blocks the hormone progesterone, which pregnancy does not last.

Is it safe to take birth control pills

Dr Mala Srivastava, Gynecologist at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, told that every contraceptive pill is safe if taken on the advice of a doctor. Abortion pills are also safe. But many times women eat them on their own which can be fatal. Abortion pills can be given from 7 to 9 weeks of pregnancy depending on the medical condition of the woman.

can every woman use them

Dr Ruma Satwik said that before giving birth control pills, we check things like age, weight, medical background, sexual behavior, family medical history of the patient. Only after that advise him to eat these pills. But those who have blood clotting, heart problems, breast cancer, menstrual migraine, uncontrolled diabetes or blood pressure, or have ever had jaundice or liver disease during pregnancy, then they are not advised to take birth control pills.

Abortion Pills or MTP- Is it Safe?

According to Dr. Mala Srivastava, both the abortion pill and the MTP (Medical Termination Procedure) procedure are safe, but 100% nothing is safe. In both these cases there is 97% success. First of all, we get the patient tested. BP, sugar are checked. Ultrasound is done so that the stage of pregnancy can be known.

MTP is a medical procedure which is done with utmost care in the hospital. It is safer than abortion pills. We also do blood tests and random sugar checks before doing this procedure.

Under what circumstances is abortion unsafe?

The trend of birth control pills in our country started from 1950 but it came in Indian market only in 1930. But even today the women of our country have not been able to become aware of it. It is not openly talked about in homes. If someone talks, his character is misunderstood. There is no talk between mother and daughter on this subject. This is the reason that many girls suffer pregnancy during their teenage years and due to this fear they take birth control pills without consulting a doctor. Sometimes its overdose is also taken which proves fatal.

According to the gynecologist, if a girl has an ectopic pregnancy and takes pills without consulting her, internal bleeding can start in her stomach, which is dangerous. At the same time, its overdose causes excessive bleeding, nausea, vomiting, headache and breast pain.
